With Pride, We Unite 52nd National Convention of JCI Hong Kong
Date: 2017-09-24The 52nd National Convention of JCI Hong Kong was held on 22 -24 September 2017 with the theme “With Pride, We Unite”. Hosted by JCI City, the Convention this year saw record-breaking registration of more than 590 delegates.
The Convention was officially opened on 22 September 2017 at Chieng Han Chow Memorial Building, Pui Ching Primary School. The Opening Ceremony was graced by the honorable presence of The Hon. Andrew Leung Kwan-yuen, GBS, MBE, JP, President of the Legislative Counsel as Guest of Honor. Mr Leung presided the kickoff ceremony where glowing flame ignited passion of the whole audience.
Incoming Leaders Elected for 2018
The Convention carried on with General Assemblies in the following two days. Reports and discussion took place to review the achievements of 2017 as well as to decide for important strategies for the sustainable development of our organization. Most of all, the incoming board of directors was successfully elected. National President Elect Ronald Kan, together with his outstanding board members, will lead JCI Hong Kong into 2018. It was also resolved that JCI Sha Tin will be hosting next year’s National Convention.
Secrets of Team Management Revealed at Theme Seminar
Apart from meetings, delegates had the chance to learn and experience from various workshops and trainings at this year’s National Convention. To echo with the theme of Convention “With Pride, We Unite”, the organizing committee invited Mr. Julian Law (羅永聰先生), the mastermind behind the earlier election campaign of Mr. John Tsang, as guest speaker to share on the theme “The Impeccable Teamwork” (買不到的團隊默契). From campaign memories to secrets of building a great team, Julian selflessly shared his experience and insights with the audience.
Side Programs and Trainings
Side programs were designed with creative themes. Delegates had the chance to experience drones, light-painting and zentangle art. Besides, National Training Development Council’s training program saw Dr. Terence K. L. Wong (王桂林博士) sharing tips on how to improve public speaking skills. At Senate Luncheon, Mrs. Rita Fan Hsu Lai-tai, GBM, GBS, CBE was invited to be the Guest Speaker. She shared her high-level view on the prospect of Hong Kong.
A soothing guided tour to the Chi Lin Nunnery was arranged by the National Alumni Club on Sunday morning for senior members to relax.
On Sunday night, all delegates gathered at Gordon Wu Hall at B.P. International for Convention Ball. The climax of the night was the award ceremony in which the hard work and efforts from outstanding projects and chapters were recognized and celebrated. The convention was concluded with the accolades and the excitement they brought.
