Real-life achievements by eight selfless HK heroes commended

in annual outstanding young persons award ceremony

Two young ladies and six young men with communal passion and never-quit spirit

inspire the panel of judges in 2018 ‘Ten Outstanding Young Persons Selection’


(Hong Kong, 7 October 2018) The Junior Chamber International Hong Kong (JCIHK) today named eight young Hongkongers, aged between 21 and 40, whom judges of the annual ‘Ten Outstanding Young Persons Selection 2018’ (TOYP) deemed to have excelled in their professional endeavours and unselfish contributions to the community. The theme of this year’s selection, ‘Empowerment’, highlighted that the future of Hong Kong is firmly in the hands of our youngsters. This year the TOYP Selection committee is honouring eight awardees in five categories, who, while having vastly different experiences and backgrounds, all share a common drive to succeed and a passion to improve the lives of people in our city.


Hosted by JCIHK annually since 1970, the TOYP Selection is in its 46th year. This years’ Honorary Patron is The Hon Matthew CHEUNG Kin-chung, GBM, GBS, JP, The Chief Secretary for Administration of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. The programme accepts nominations under five categories: ‘Civil and Social Services’, ‘Commerce and Industry’, ‘Education’, ‘Performing Arts / Sports / Culture and Arts’ and ‘Professionals’. Initial screening interviews were conducted by the Selection Consultant, “Ernst & Young” between 17 July and 20 August 2018, to verify the data contained in the nomination application, and to examine the eligibility of each nominee. All short-listed nominees attended the final judging sessions in September by a panel of five judges from various sectors, including Chief Judge Dr. PANG Yiu-kai, GBS, JP, and four Panel Members - Professor K.C. CHAN, GBS, JP, Dr. KO Wing Man, GBS, JP, Ms. MOK Fung Yee, Emily, MH, JP and Mr. Francis NGAI Wah Sing.  


Today, TOYP Selection 2018 Chairman Ms. Yoee LEUNG unveiled eight new names for this year’s TOYP Selection, along with their own real-life stories.
