Ming Gor is now:
Mr Chan Cheuk Ming, known as Ming Gor (Brother Ming), has been serving the homeless and low income elders in Sham Shui Po district by regularly donating free meal boxes to them every week. He turned his restaurant “Pei Ho Counterparts” into a social enterprise last year and launched a Pei Ho Counterparts pop-up store in Lan Kwai Fong from November to December 2016 to raise funds for his Pei Ho (Ming Gor) Charity Foundation and aim to sell at least 40,000 meal vouchers. Although the pop-up store initiative was run on a trial basis and some difficulties in using Android Pay were encountered, Ming Gor said over 70,000 meal vouchers were sold through the pop-up store initiative. He was pleased to see more and more corporations and community partners showed support to his cause.
Diversified Development from the Free Meal Initiative
Ming Gor is now:
• Extending the scope of existing free meal initiative to Un Chau Estate, Pak Tin Estate, Lai On Estate in Sham Shui Po district, and also in Kwun Tong and Tuen Mun districts, serving the homeless, poor elderly, minorities and refugees
• Providing free meals to newly discharged prisoners bridging their needs before assistance from Social Welfare Department is sought
• Promoting financially and operationally sustainable model of Social Enterprise amongst non-governmental organizations (NGOs)
• Collaborating with other NGOs in other projects, including Furniture Recycling, Tutoring for Poor Children, Elderly Health Service.

His Belief
Ming Gor has chosen “Pei Ho Counterparts” as his social enterprise’s name to reflect his belief - collaborating with a group of people who shared the same belief and serve the needy without distinction as to race, colour, or national or ethnic origin, political inclination, religious belief etc.
